Cabir was discovered by the French division of the Russian security software developer Kaspersky Labs.

The virus would only becomes active if the recipient accepts the file and then installs it.

Once installed the virus displays the word "Caribe" on the
device's screen, and it is likely to drain the phone's batteries.

The virus is activated every time when the phone is turned
on and scans for phones that are also using the Bluetooth technology within
the Bluetooth range (about 30 meters), then send a copy of itself to the
handset that it finds.
